RBA Diversity Day 2025
Celebrating diversity at RBA: A day of cultural sharing
Monday the 30th of June, our Paris office enjoyed an exceptional day celebrating the team’s interculturality. The event gave our colleagues the opportunity to share their origins, traditions, languages, and, most importantly, food!
The mood was set from the moment everyone arrived at the office, welcomed by decorations, an international playlist, and a breakfast from around the world. We shared Lebanese coffee, Syrian cake, Moroccan mint tea, Algerian pastries, Iranian drinks, and Brazilian sweets—it was a great start to the day, and everyone appreciated the fuel for the activities ahead!
Throughout the day, several colleagues presented various aspects of their cultures and experiences, including traditional clothes, geography, history, and architecture. It was great to see everyone so engaged in the presentations; we have so much to learn from one another in ways that can enrich both our architecture and our daily lives.
To highlight the wide range of backgrounds, a scratch-off world map was placed in the common space, and everyone had a chance to scratch off the country corresponding to their roots. By the end of the day, 28 countries were revealed! The map will remain on display in the office as a symbol of the team’s diversity and as inspiration for new conversations. And maybe more countries will be scratched off in the future!
The high point of the day was of course the potluck of homemade dishes from each culture. We had Peruvian chicha morada, Balkan banica, Italian parigina, Lebanese fattoush, Iranian tachin, American apple crumble, Indian mango lassi, and much more! We stuffed ourselves while gathering with colleagues to eat and reflect on the day. The recipes were collected in a book to commemorate the delicious day and give our team a chance to make their new favourite foods at home.
An agency with a global view
Diversity Day was a festive event and a fun day of learning about each other’s heritages. Beyond that, it is also the reflection of a company culture that is open and curious, where differences are seen as an asset to celebrate and a resource to nurture. As an architectural agency, this openness is essential because it feeds our creativity, cultural sensitivity, and aptitude for designing inclusive spaces.
