Design of a 20,000m² data centre on the outskirts of London

RBA UK were approached by the leading data centre engineers, ARUP, to collaborate in the design of a large-scale purposefully built data centre on an industrial park in Slough, UK. The new building is a two storey data centre facility with a main entrance to a Customer Centre office building and a separate logistics building. External circulation, parking and planted areas surround the buildings, all within a security fenced enclosure. External plant is contained within a fully enclosed louvred zone. The data centre building accommodates co-location space for server cabinets, providing 12,000m² of white space for growing customer requirements. In addition to the data halls and associated plant rooms, the project provides customer lounge areas, breakout rooms, and adaptable office and meeting room areas.
