An exceptional evening: Burns Night 2025

An exceptional evening: Burns Night 2025

A big thank you to everyone who made it to Burns Night last week!

We had a fantastic night with colleagues, clients, and friends celebrating Robert Burns and Scottish culture.

To kick off the day, the RBA teams from all four offices gathered for some organised chaos—or, rather, team building! There was friendly competition during a quiz game followed by a presentation from Alex Reid and Adrian Brewin about the past, present, and bright future of RBA.

After lunch, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr Hugh Strange, whose Farmworker’s House won the RIBA South West and Wessex Award 2024, RIBA South West and Wessex Small Project of the Year 2024, and RIBA National Award 2024, as well as being nominated for the RIBA House of the Year Award 2024. He gave a fascinating and informative presentation on his work, demonstrating his unique approach and the new techniques that his practice has implemented. Collaboration truly is the key to great architecture!

The big event came in the evening, as we welcomed friends and clients for une soirée d’exception, with drinks, dancing, and a dazzlingly good time! It was a treat to see everyone donned in tartan outside meeting rooms and construction sites. We heard Alex and Adrian recite some Burns poetry—in multiple languages!—ate haggis, drank whisky, and danced the night away in a traditional ceilidh.

It truly was a superb evening, so thank you to everyone who made it so great, and we hope you had as much fun as we did! Until next time!
